UVM Autism Collaborative: a trio of photos. First a Black woman joyfully calls on a student in her class; next, a pre-teen boy enjoys his over-ear headphones in the woods, eyes closed and head thrown back; finally, a white woman in her mid-twenties with long dark hair and glasses, sits in bed looking intently at her laptop while cradling a cup of tea in her hands.

The UVM Autism Collaborative is a group of autistic and non-autistic family members, caregivers, researchers, clinicians and autistic adults working together to improve the quality of life for autistic people everywhere.

Dedicated to improving the lives of autistic people.

Community Partners in Autism Research

The UVM Autism Collaborative believes that health care should be autistic-centered.

We believe that care should concentrate on the quality of life and community inclusion of autistic people and their caregivers. We wholeheartedly believe that our goals will be achieved through engagement and partnership with autistic people, along with interdisciplinary practice. "Interdisciplinary practice" translates to multiple health care providers from many different backgrounds working together to achieve the same goals.

Please note: We use identity-first language in place of person-first language in our documents and on this website because this is the preference of our team and Board members.

The UVM Autism Collaborative is a joint project of the UVM Center on Disability & Community Inclusion (CDCI), the UVM College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and the UVM Medical Center.
